Collection of General Information When Visiting Our Website (Server Log Files)

The provider of the pages (Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany) automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits. These are:

  • IP address (anonymized server-side by Hetzner by setting the last octet to 0)
  • Browser type and browser version
  • Operating system used
  • Referrer URL (the previously visited page)
  • Hostname of the accessing computer
  • Time of the server request
  • Accessed page/file
  • Amount of data transferred
  • Status code (e.g., "200 OK")

According to Hetzner, this data is stored for a maximum of 7 days and then deleted. This data is not merged with other data sources.

The processing is carried out in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR based on our legitimate interest in improving the stability and functionality of our website and ensuring the security of our information technology systems (e.g., for defense against attacks).

Web Analysis with Matomo (Cookie-less)

This website uses Matomo (formerly Piwik), an open-source software for the statistical analysis of visitor access. Matomo is hosted on our own server at Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany, meaning no data is transferred to third parties.

We use Matomo to analyze the use of our website and to regularly improve our offering. Through the statistics obtained, we can make our website more user-friendly and identify technical problems early on.

Privacy Configuration:

  • No Cookies: Matomo is configured so that **no tracking cookies** are stored in your browser (`disableCookies`). Your visits are therefore not tracked across multiple sessions using cookies.
  • IP Anonymization: Your IP address is shortened before storage (anonymization by removing the last 2 bytes, e.g., 192.168.x.x). This makes a direct personal reference impossible.
  • Respect for "Do Not Track": We respect the "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting that you can enable in your browser. If DNT is enabled, your visit will not be recorded.

Processed Data:

The following data is processed by Matomo:

  • The anonymized IP address (shortened by 2 bytes)
  • Date and time of the request
  • Title of the page being viewed (Page Title)
  • URL of the page being viewed (Page URL)
  • URL of the page that was viewed prior to the current page (Referrer URL)
  • Screen resolution being used
  • Time in local user's timezone
  • Files that were clicked and downloaded (Download)
  • Links to an outside domain that were clicked (Outlink)
  • Main Language of the browser
  • User Agent of the browser (Information about browser, operating system)

Legal Basis:

The legal basis for processing data with Matomo is our **legitimate interest** pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the analysis and optimization of our website based on anonymized or pseudonymized data, without unduly affecting the privacy of users, especially by refraining from using cookies.

Storage Duration:

The anonymized raw data is stored on our server for a period of 6 months and then automatically deleted.

Objection Possibility (Opt-Out):

You can object to the collection of your data by Matomo at any time. By unchecking the following box, an opt-out mechanism will be activated in your browser (works without cookies), instructing Matomo not to record your visits in the future. Please note that this mechanism may need to be deactivated again if you clear your browser settings.

SSL/TLS Encryption

This site uses SSL or TLS encryption for security reasons and for the protection of the transmission of confidential content, such as requests that you send to us as the site operator. You can recognize an encrypted connection in your browser's address line when it changes from “http://” to “https://” and the lock icon is displayed in your browser's address bar.

Cookies

This website does not use **any technically non-essential cookies**. No cookies are set for tracking, analysis, or marketing purposes. Only the Matomo opt-out mechanism (see Web Analysis section) may use local storage to save your objection setting if you have opted out of tracking.

Contact Form

If you send us inquiries via the contact form, your details from the inquiry form, including the contact details you provided there, will be stored by us for the purpose of processing the inquiry and in case of follow-up questions. We do not pass on this data without your consent.

The processing of this data is based on Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR, if your request is related to the fulfillment of a contract or is necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, the processing is based on our legitimate interest in the effective processing of the inquiries addressed to us (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR) or on your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR) if this has been requested.

The data you enter in the contact form will remain with us until you request us to delete it, revoke your consent to storage, or the purpose for data storage no longer applies (e.g., after your request has been processed). Mandatory statutory provisions – in particular retention periods – remain unaffected.

Newsletter

If you would like to receive the newsletter offered on the website, we require an e-mail address from you as well as information that allows us to verify that you are the owner of the specified e-mail address and that you agree to receive the newsletter. Further data is not collected or is only collected on a voluntary basis. We use this data exclusively for sending the requested information and do not pass it on to third parties.

The processing of the data entered into the newsletter registration form takes place exclusively on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). You can revoke your consent to the storage of the data, the e-mail address and their use for sending the newsletter at any time, for example via the "unsubscribe" link in the newsletter or via the corresponding function on the newsletter page. The legality of the data processing operations already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation.

The data you have stored with us for the purpose of receiving the newsletter will be stored by us until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and will be deleted after you have unsubscribed. Data that has been stored by us for other purposes remains unaffected.

Changes to our Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to adapt this privacy policy so that it always complies with the current legal requirements or in order to implement changes to our services in the privacy policy, e.g., when introducing new services. The new privacy policy will then apply to your next visit.
